I work as a freelance photographer for commercial firms and websites, but in my day job, I am a geologist. It is through geology that I’ve had the privilege to travel the world, discover fantastic places, and meet incredible people.
In my photography, I am deeply attracted to disappearing cultures. To me, this doesn't always mean a remote population in an inaccessible forest; it is often the old lady in a nearby village who still wears her traditional dress, or a trade that has lasted for centuries and is now quietly fading.
Here are some of those places, men, and women.
All the images are © Carlo Nicolai.
If you want to use any of them just drop me an email info@elicadesign.net
